Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese martial art originally created as a fighting art. This form of exercise has evolved and branched off into a series of gentle movements led by the breath and with great focus. This mindfulness in movement can alleviate stress and promote serenity. According to research, Tai Chi supports the benefits of improved balance, flexibility, better cognitive function and perhaps improved sleep. During movement, “chi” or energy flows through the body. Tai Chi has less stress on joints too. All levels are welcome. Be sure to wear comfortable, loose clothing that will allow flexibility in movement. This class will run continuously and require the purchase of a monthly pass.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Rita Bowling will lead the sessions. Rita is a disciple of Grandmaster Tony Yang of the Wu Tang Center for Martial Arts and is well-versed in multiple forms of Tai Chi as well as other forms of Chinese martial arts as well as weapons. She is also a nurse and has been in healthcare for many years.
