Who Can Participate in After School?

The Shaw JCC of Akron provides school age child care programming for students enrolled in Lippman as well as the Akron Public, Revere Local, and Copley-Fairlawn City Schools. Transportation is available. For Akron Public School students at Judith A. Resnik CLC, the Shaw JCC is happy to sponsor a SACC program at the Community Learning Center itself.

Where does after school take place?

Children from Akron Public, Revere Local, and Copley-Fairlawn City Schools will attend after school at the Shaw JCC located at 750 White Pond Drive. Those children who attend Resnik will remain at the school for their after school program.

What will my child do in the After School Program?

When the children arrive they are brought to their age appropriate group. Once children have been check in, they are given a healthy snack before they go to their activities. At Kidspace at the J, the children will engage in different activities throughout the afternoon which include crafts, games, homework time, as well physical activities in the gym to help develop their fine and grow motor skills, and to promote good sportsmanship. At Resnik , the children arrive and check in with the SACC staff and go to their Group. The children are given a healthy snack, then they choose table activities, they may read a book, or maybe create something at the art table. Depending on the weather the children may go outside or in the gym for some physical activities.

What are the hours of the school age program?

The Kidspace and Resnik program is open Monday through Friday, the AM hours are 7:00 – 8:30 and the PM hours are 2:30 – 6:00.

What Happens when my child does not have school?

Whether school is out for in-service, holidays, or bad weather, we have something planned for you! These days offer field trips, cooking, games, crafts, swimming, and more. We are open from 7AM until 6PM at the JCC. Please bring a dairy lunch.

Mission of Our After School:

It is our mission to create a safe, relaxed, trusting atmosphere where children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, develop friendships, and grow in confidence, independence and respect for themselves and others.
