Outdoor Pool Information

Outdoor Pool Hours
Open swim is daily from 11 a.m.-7:45 p.m. Lap swim is Sunday-Friday, 10 a.m.-noon, for adults in the lap swim area of the pool. Swim testing for kids will be conducted during breaks and 15 minutes prior to the start of each hour.

Inclement Weather

The National Lightning Safety Institute recommends waiting at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder is heard before resuming activity in the water for pools. The Shaw JCC indoor and outdoor pools are connected by underground pipes and pump systems, so we follow this rule year-round. In case of thunder or lightning, swimmers may be asked to exit the indoor and outdoor pool areas for at least 30 minutes. In the event that American Red Cross Swim Lessons are taking place during this time, students will be offered a safety instructional class. Classes will not be cancelled or rescheduled due to instructor availability. Prior to arriving to the Shaw JCC, please call 330-867-7850 to inquire if the pools are open in case of inclement weather.

Membership Cards
Please remember to bring your membership card every time you visit our facility and swipe in at the desk or the pool gate. You will also need your membership card to enter the building from the outdoor pool. If a family member or babysitter is bringing your child to the outdoor pool, please remember to stop by the desk to pick up a babysitting card.

Guest Passes
Guest pass fees are $10 for adults (18+); $7 for teens (ages 13-17); $5 for children (ages 5-12); and free for children ages 4 and under. Guest passes for the outdoor pool may be purchased inside at the member service desks and in advance for Saturday visits

Shabbat Cards
Jewish law and tradition embrace the Sabbath—Saturday, a day of rest, when no work is done and no money changes hands. To respect that tradition, we do not sell goods or services at The J on Saturdays. Please remember to buy guest passes ahead of time and, in the summer, Shabbat cards ($10) for the snack bar. We cannot charge member accounts for guest passes or Shabbat cards.

Kosher Food Policy
Members are welcome to bring any food except meat and poultry.

Efrat’s Café
Open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. daily, Efrat’s Café will return this summer with all your favorite menu items like chips, cold drinks, pizza, tuna wraps, and more! New tasty food items are in store for our members and guests. Please remember to purchase your Shabbat card for the snack bar in advance if you're planning to head to the pool on Saturday.
