The outdoor pool is closed for the season. We look forward to reopening Memorial Day Weekend in May 2020!
The National Lightning Safety Institute recommends waiting at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder is heard before resuming activity in the water for pools. The Shaw JCC indoor and outdoor pools are connected by underground pipes and pump systems, so we follow this rule year-round. In the case of thunder or lightning, swimmers may be asked to exit the indoor and outdoor pool areas for at least 30 minutes. In the event that American Red Cross Swim Lessons are taking place during this time, students will be offered a safety instructional class. Classes will not be canceled or rescheduled due to instructor availability. Prior to arriving at the Shaw JCC, please call 330-867-7850 to inquire if the pools are open in case of inclement weather.
Please remember to bring your membership card every time you visit our facility and swipe in at the desk or the pool gate. You will also need your membership card to enter the building from the outdoor pool. If members have forgotten their membership cards, they must wait at the gate until the gate person verifies their membership. Cards left overnight will be taken to the member service desk located in the fitness center.
A member may bring guests to the Shaw JCC three (3) visits per year. Daily guest pass fees are $10 for adults (18+); $7 for teens (ages 13-17); $5 for children (ages 5-12); and free for children ages 4 and under. One week passes for out-of-town guests are available. Guest passes for the outdoor pool may be purchased inside at the member service desks and in advance for Saturday visits
Jewish law and tradition embrace the Sabbath—Saturday, a day of rest when no work is done and no money changes hands. To respect that tradition, we do not sell goods or services at The J on Saturdays. Please remember to buy guest passes ahead of time and, in the summer, Shabbat cards ($10) for the snack bar. We cannot charge member accounts for guest passes or Shabbat cards.
Kosher Food Policy
Members and guests are welcome to bring any food except meat and poultry.
