Celebrating Purim with Song and Hamentaschen

We've had a busy week preparing for Purim here in the ECE. The story of Purim has been heard in each of our classrooms, Cantor Kathy has taught us new Purim songs, shiny crowns have been made and our beloved Granny Group visited to make Hamentaschen with the children. Hazzan Matthew Austerklein was also on hand Tuesday to lend his musical talents and share Purim songs with the children. Following the Granny Group activity, the children were able to take home a bag with their homemade Hamentaschen, a grogger (noise maker for when they hear the name of Hamen), an info sheet explaining Purim as well as a recipe for Hamentaschen. We ended our week with a wonderful Purim Parade! Many thanks to our own Shabbat Scott Zorn and his wife Julie for leading our parade throughout The J.

Next week is our annual Art Show fundraiser! The children have been working hard to create unique pieces of art to share with friends and family. We will open our “art gallery” to the public at our Artist’s Reception on Wednesday, Mar. 7 at 6:15 p.m. Join us for a tour of our art gallery, an opportunity to purchase your child’s artwork, purchase raffle tickets for class group projects, and enjoy a light snack. We look forward to a fun evening with you and your child.

Thanks for supporting the Mandel ECE!
